WHAT IS A RESUME?
A resume is one of the most important documents to have when applying to any job. It will probably be written in job application requirements, but even if it is not, its essence is very important in terms of making a good first impression.
Resume is a document giving short information about you. This information includes your contact info, achievements, qualifications, work experience and education data.
Sometimes contacts of people who can recommend you as a best match for the specific position you are applying for are also included in resume.
HOW TO WRITE A RESUME?
A resume of one to two pages and consists of the following parts:
- Contact Information
- Name and surname
State a brief description of what kind of job you want to get and why you are applying for it. If a resume is sent for a specific job, then the purpose should clearly be stated.
Briefly indicates the most important information for potential employers about your professional skills, strengths and achievements.
- Work experience
It should be stated in reverse chronological order. This is an important resume part describing the work experience, as a rule, over the past 10 years in the following structure:
- Company name;
- The company’s activities;
- Terms of work;
- Your Position;
- Your Official duties;
- Professional skills and achievements.
Your main education places and the additional education such as courses, seminars, trainings, and internships should be stated.
- Additional information
Include the knowledge of foreign languages and computers, the availability of driver’s licenses, membership in professional organizations, etc. You can also include your hobbies.
WHAT NOT TO İNCLUDE İN YOUR RESUME?
There are the things that you should never include in your resume. Here they are:
- GENERAL AND CLICHE WORDS
Avoid using the phrases that are cliché and very classic. Remember that the employer on the day comes dozens, and even hundreds of resumes. Your task is to stand out among them, and classic expressions are definitely not the best way…
Attributing to yourself additional knowledge and experience, you are unlikely to get a job. Ay-t maximum – you will be invited for an interview, but an experienced HR in a personal conversation, asking additional questions, will immediately disclose the deception.
- ARTISTIC STYLE
If you want to create a memorable resume, do not try to highlight your resume using an unusual font, format or bright colors. A clearly structured resume, in which your accomplishments and advantages are clearly demonstrated, is much more attractive to the employer.
- PERSONAL INFORMATİON
Family status, gender, the presence of children are not of interest to the employer. Your task in a laconic form to show your advantages as a specialist, and not tell your life story.
- INFORMATION ON GENERAL SKILLS
Using Word and Excel has long ceased to be a special skill. Anyone who works in the office knows it. Such data will only burden your resume and divert you from the really significant benefits.
