OBJECTIVE
A senior editorial product development position in the social/behavioral sciences in college textbook publishing. I am qualified to acquire and develop major-market undergraduate textbooks in psychology, sociology, anthropology, education, and modern languages.
SUMMARY
I am currently sponsoring/acquiring editor at ABC Publishing Company and am responsible for texts in education and modern languages. I am also involved in marketing, advertising, and promotion activities. Prior to joining ABC Publishing Company, I worked for eight years for American Textbook Development Company as managing editor. I gained experience in sales and marketing, editorial, and management.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Sales. I developed, planned, and conducted one- and two-day workshops to present and demonstrate new modern-language publications and programs to high school teachers and administrators and to college instructors. Sales in the northeast territory increased 40 percent during my tenure. As a consequence of the success of the workshops, the company adopted this approach as the primary marketing strategy.
Managerial. As managing editor of the American Textbook Development Company, I directed, developed, and administered the publishing program and staff selection, training, and supervision.
Editorial. While working at ABC Publishing Company, I have contracted for thirty books: twenty-five in modern languages and five in education. I have transformed the education list from a collection of small-market, supplementary texts into a well-developed, competitive list of basic undergraduate texts.
Product Development. I have established new approaches, systems, and procedures in product development at ABC Publishing Company, and have developed a step-by-step approach to planning, conceptualizing, and evaluating new textbook projects.
